Dough Moulding Compound (DMC)

Materials used for compression moulding are either in the form of a dough-like substance or in sheet form.  Both forms are composed of resin, chopped glass fibres, a catalyst and a release agent.

The dough like substance is called Dough Moulding Compound (DMC).  A measured amount of Dough Moulding Compound is placed into the heated female mould. The heated male side of the mould closes forcing the Dough Moulding Compound into the mould cavities.  The heat from the mould cures and hardens the compound.
